Kieki Murillo is an eighth-grade student at Ruidoso Middle School and an all-around athlete. She plays volleyball, basketball, softball and runs track.
Murillo has also played youth soccer and when the snow is abundant, she is skiing and snowboarding on the mountain.
“Volleyball is my favorite sport,” Murillo said. “I plan to play in high school and hope to get a scholarship to college through the sport.”
This track and field season, she is participating in three events – the 4×100 and 4×200-meter relays, triple jump and medley relay. Of all the events, the triple jump is her best.
This season, her best jump is 28 feet, 10½ inches. The school record is held by Ruidoso High graduate Bailey Jones.
“I am hoping to break that record and be able to go to State,” Murillo said. “To go to State as an eighth grader would be awesome.”
Murillo is training daily with the track team and gets some extra time in with her dad, Coach Wally Murillo.
Kieki is true athlete that believes in grit to achieve her goals. We wish her luck in the upcoming track meets as she represents Warrior Nation!
